Red Coleslaw



  • 12 small head of red cabbage
  • 1 shallot
  • 1–2 peppers


  • 34 cup buttermilk
  • 14 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar


  • Cut the cabbage in half
  • Core it and slice it thinly
  • Mince the shallots and peppers
  • Transfer everything into a big mixing bowl with a couple pinches of salt and grinds of pepper
  • In another mixing bowl, whisk together all the wet ingredients
  • Pour the buttermilk mixture over the cabbage and mix
  • Let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour, a day is better


This is an amazing side with fried chicken.
